I think I could have been an entrepreneur. I mean, if I had been coached to have basic goals and shown the meaning of drive and passion. Unfortunately, that never happened; I grew up in a family that had a fear-of-everything and a general sense of negativity.
I stumbled upon this video on the swiss-miss blog, something I think current and future parents should watch. No matter what your opinion of entrepreneurship as a career, learning to negotiate, communicate effectively and make something out of nothing are excellent skills to have.
Also, learning the value of a dollar certainly doesn’t hurt. I think too many young people are currently swamped in a sea of debt, most likely due to foolish spending and the ever growing list of wants created by advertising agencies. We’re headed for rough times, people, and it’s your ingenuity and gumption that will keep you afloat — not how many Facebook friends you have, or how much stuff you own.
